Vertical panels are often used to designate a travel lane, close a shoulder, or narrow the footpath of a sidewalk when construction work is underway. Because vertical panels are functionally equivalent to drums and barricades, they are typically used when limited space prevents the placement of larger traffic control devices. With a rectangular panel of sheeting measuring 8” x 36” and providing 288 square inches of retroreflective material, vertical panels provide excellent visibility in all road conditions.
Details for Vertical Panel:
- Meets M.U.T.C.D. specifications.
- NCHRP-350 crash tested and approved.
- Rubber Base weighs 20 lbs.
- Sheeting area is 8"x36".
Our vertical panels are manufactured with resilient orange polyethylene plastic and a durable recycled rubber base. Stripes are available on front, or on both front and back. Bases and panels stack for ease of transport.
Made with heavy-duty, lightweight fluorescent orange polyethylene, vertical panels are durable, weather-resistant, and portable. The rectangular sheeting adhered onto the plastic panel is available in high-intensity prismatic or full-cube prismatic material. Alternating orange and white stripes measure 6 inches tall and slope downward at a 45-degree angle.
Vertical panels are available in two main styles, single-sided or double-sided, with slight differences in use. MUTCD guidelines note that the direction of the stripes’ downward slope must match the side that traffic is directed toward. When traffic is directed to the left, vertical panels should be oriented so that stripes slope downward to the left. When traffic is directed to the right, stripes should slope downward to the right. Single-sided vertical panels only show one of two sloping directions, while double-sided vertical panels feature stripes sloping downward to the left on the front and stripes sloping downward to the right on the back. With just one double-sided vertical panel, traffic flow can be directed toward either direction.
