Yield to Pedestrians Signs
Two different signs cover pedestrian right of way, and they are not interchangeable. At an uncontrolled marked crosswalk, the Yield Here To Pedestrians sign (R1-5) is installed in advance of the crossing at the yield line, with the arrow pointing toward the crosswalk. At a signalised intersection where drivers may turn on a permissive green, Turning Traffic Must Yield To Pedestrians (R10-15) faces the turning movement instead.
Where the crossing is stop-controlled rather than yield-controlled, use the Stop Here For Pedestrians variants (R1-5B / R1-5C) in the same position. For school crossings and traffic-calmed streets we also make portable and bolt-down in-street signs (R1-6) that sit on the centreline.
Which yield sign do I need?
Eight signs and plaques carry a yield instruction. The regulatory signs control right of way; the yellow and orange diamonds only warn that a yield is ahead. Match the row to your installation.
