Choose it over R3-6R when the through movement must be prohibited rather than merely shared, since the two look similar but carry opposite permissions. Overhead mounting becomes preferable as approach width grows and shoulder-mounted panels drift outside a comfortable sightline. R3-7R states the same requirement in words rather than arrows.
